Chapter Eight

Bowie wasn’t sure how or why Ava had finally invited him into her bed. Not that it mattered. From the very first moment he’d laid eyes on her, he’d fantasized about what it would be like to have sex with her. And then he’d begun to calculate just how long and hard he’d have to court her before she’d surrender to him.

But now that he was lying next to her and she was kissing him so sweetly and wantonly, something deep within him recognized that this was so much more than sex. He wanted her. Oh, yes, more than he’d ever wanted any woman. But his feelings didn’t stop there. Everything about her, from the sound of her sigh to the erotic dance of her fingertips against his skin and the wild taste of her lips, was being burned into his brain, and he knew without a doubt these moments would stay with him forever.

No. He wasn’t supposed to be feeling this much, he thought. His life wasn’t supposed to be changing right here in her arms. But there wasn’t a thing he could do to stop it.

Lifting his head, he looked down at her face. Bathed in the dim glow of the bedside lamp, she looked like a goddess just waiting to lead him to paradise.

Words rushed to the tip of his tongue, words that he’d never spoken to any woman, but his throat was too thick to utter a sound. Desperately he tried to swallow the lump away, but emotions continued to build in his chest and surge upward until they were very nearly choking him.

“Bowie? Are you okay?”

He framed her face with his hands, then brought his lips next to hers. “I just want you so much.”

As though she understood nothing else needed to be said, she shifted beneath him until her hips were aligned with his. After that there was no holding back. He slid into her slowly, steadily until she surrounded him completely. After that everything became a blur of incredible sensations as blood throbbed against his temples and his body took control of his mind.

Eventually, after he’d managed to catch his breath, he began to move and she followed suit, matching his rhythm as though the two of them had made love to each other for fifty years instead of this being the first time. Perfect. Precious. That was all he could think as he lost himself in the delicious delights of her body.

He wanted this to last forever. For the next several minutes, the thought was like a mantra repeating over and over in his head. And he fought to hold back, to give them one more minute together, and then another. But the need in him kept building higher and stronger until his thrusts reached a frantic pace. Just when he thought his heart would burst right out of his chest, he felt Ava’s arms tighten around him and heard her cry out with utter release. Then suddenly, a spectacular vista of shooting stars and night sky suddenly stretched before his eyes.
